- The final agenda has been posted for FAB8, the Eighth International Fab Lab Forum and Symposium on Digital Fabrication, coming up in Wellington, New Zealand in August:
You're invited to join us and this global community there for both hands-on workshops and research presentations.
- The implications of digital fabrication for craft will be discussed with CBA collaborators at the Smithsonian American Art Museum in November:
Implications for security and policy were explored at an event hosted by DHS in DC in July, which showed tools including the PopFab:
- Here's a video with Neil Gershenfeld and Vint Cerf and colleagues exploring the future of the Internet:
- Andreas Mershin introduces the winners of the 2012 Molecular Frontiers Inquiry Prize in this video:
- A CBA team, working with the Alexander Fleming Biomedical Sciences Research Center in Greece, has been awarded a second phase of funding from DARPA's Quantum Biology program. Based on experimental studies of olfactory receptors, this project will investigate inelastic electron tunneling to characterize molecules in nanostructures.
- Another CBA team, working with the Wyss Institute at Harvard University, has received an award from DARPA's Living Foundries program to develop a nanoassembler that will use molecular biology machinery to place inorganic nanoclusters.
- We're pleased to welcome Innovate America as a Premier CBA sponsor, with a focus on molecular manufacturing.
- Kenny Cheung will present the development of digital composite materials in a thesis defense at 9:00 on August 7th in MIT's room E14-648.
